Please Note: For all Softball Camps/Games campers are required to bring all equipment:

Glove, Batting Helmet, Bat, Batting Gloves, Catching Equipment (if applicable), Cleats (for outdoor camps), Turf/Tennis Shoes (for camps at HTRC), Water Bottle, and Any additional equipment that campers feel necessary.

Renee Gillispie

Renee Gillispie - Head Coach

Renee Gillispie (gill-ESPY) completed her fifth season as the head coach of the University of Iowa softball program in 2023.  She was selected as the fifth head coach in program history on June 8, 2018.

In 2023, the Hawkeye’s finished 35-27, and 10-13 in Big Ten play. Their 35 wins is the most in a season since 2009.

Iowa made its first conference tournament appearance since 2019. The Hawkeyes accepted an invite to the National Invitational Softball Championship (NISC) in Fort Collins, Colo. They went 4-0 on their way to the NISC championship title.

Coach Gillispie picked up her 100th win with Iowa on March 18th at USF. They defeated the Bulls 12-4 in six innings. Gillispie ranks 15th amongst active coaches in D1 with 947 wins.

PEARL FIELD

Pearl Field, the home field of Iowa's record-setting softball program, was dedicated on October 2, 1999, in honor of the late Robert L. Pearl, who was the first African-American baseball player at the University of Iowa and a longtime supporter of Hawkeye softball.

In the fall of 2002, pro-style sunken dugouts were added, along with the addition of 500 permanent seats, bringing the grandstand capacity to 1,500.

HAWKEYE TENNIS AND RECREATION CENTER

The HTRC houses eight indoor and twelve outdoor tennis courts, 6,000 square feet of fitness space, two indoor turf fields, locker rooms and the Outdoor Rental Center. The outdoor courts are named the Klotz Tennis courts, named after former Men’s Tennis Coach, Don Klotz. The HTRC is also the home of the University of Iowa Men's and Women's Tennis, Women’s Soccer, Women’s Field Hockey, and Hawkeye Marching Band.

In 2009, the Hawkeye Tennis and Recreation Complex received the Iowa Tennis Association Facility of the Year Award. In addition, it also received the USTA Missouri Valley Facility of the Year Award. The Missouri Valley is comprised of the states of Missouri, Kansas, Oklahoma, Nebraska and Iowa.

For the general public, there is Fitness West - a 2,700 square foot fitness area, the Indoor Turf Area for intramural and club sports teams and a 3,500 square foot Touch The Earth Outdoor Rental & Resource Center.

Refund Policy

Any refund given will be a credit applicable to a future Iowa Softball Camp/Clinic and must be redeemed within one year of when the credit was issued. All refund requests must be made 2 weeks prior to the schedule camp the participant is registered for. Iowa Softball Staff has the discretion to approve a refund request if the request is submitted within the 2 week period of the scheduled camp/clinic. Refund requests must be submitted through the Contact Us section of the University of Iowa Softball Camps website.

HOW DO I GET DOCUMENTATION TO CLAIM CAMP FEES ON MY TAXES?

WHAT AIRPORT SHOULD I USE?

  • The Eastern Iowa Airport (CID), located in Cedar Rapids, IA is approximately 25 miles north of the University of Iowa campus.

CAN I VISIT MY CHILD WHILE THEY ARE ATTENDING CAMP?

  • You are welcome to come and watch any session your child is attending. If you need to remove your child for any reason, make sure their counselor is notified. 

WHO IS RESPONSIBLE IF MY CHILD IS INJURED OR NEEDS MEDICAL ATTENTION WHILE AT CAMP?

  • If your child is injured during camp, they will be taken to our Athletic Trainer immediately, and the Athletic Trainer will determine what action is required. If necessary, the Athletic Trainer will contact the parent/guardian and discuss care options. We can take the camper to UI Sports Medicine or the UI Emergency Department. Cost for treatment of injuries and/or hospitalization is the responsibility of the parent/guardian. We will have your insurance information from your online registration.

WHO DO I TALK TO IF MY CHILD NEEDS TO TAKE MEDICATION WHILE THEY ARE ATTENDING CAMP?

  • When you go through the check-in process, make certain that you stop at the Athletic Trainers table and discuss your child’s medication.
